Everyone Deserves a Break!

Many families have spent years caring for their loved one without taking time for themselves or even realizing that respite opportunities may be available to them.

Continuing to promote these services gives families an opportunity to:

• Take a break
• Rest and recharge
• Spend time with their spouse or partner
• Spend time with other children
• Reconnect with friends
• Attend special events
• Simply have some time to themselves

This is another area where E&E Developmental Services of North Texas is different from other providers.

We are committed not only to supporting the individuals we serve but also to supporting their parents, caregivers, and families.

Respite is an important part of being a truly family-focused provider.

COMPANION CARE HOUSING MODEL

Companion Care: Creating a Home Beyond the Family Home

At E&E, we understand the importance of planning for the future living arrangements of your loved one. We also understand that finding the right options can be challenging, as traditional residential choices are often limited.

In an effort to provide families with greater peace of mind, E&E developed the Companion Care Living Model—an approach designed to create a true home environment while supporting individuals as they build greater independence.

Unlike a traditional group home staffed by rotating shift workers, our Companion Care homes have a live-in provider who is present 24/7. This consistency allows individuals to develop meaningful relationships, establish routines, and experience the comfort and stability of a home outside of the family home.

Our Companion Care homes are also teaching homes, with a strong emphasis on developing independent living skills and encouraging each individual to participate in the everyday activities of their home. From cooking and household responsibilities to community involvement and personal decision-making, individuals are supported in learning skills that can help them thrive.

E&E currently has approximately 18 successful Companion Care homes throughout the DFW Metroplex. Each home and the services provided within it are closely monitored by the E&E Director and individual Program Managers to help ensure quality, consistency, and individualized support.

We believe this model creates meaningful benefits for everyone involved. It provides individuals with the opportunity to grow outside of the family home, helps build strong and lasting relationships with families, and creates consistency for the providers who make these homes possible.

Most importantly, we believe in creating homes—not just places to live—and helping the individuals we serve thrive in them.
